Sustainable Conservation Efforts at CaranaBeach Hotel

At CaranaBeach Hotel, our sustainable practices are woven into the fabric of our operations, ensuring that we not only preserve Seychelles’ natural beauty but also contribute to the well-being of its ecosystem. We count our remarkable location as one of our greatest assets and have designed the hotel to optimise the views of our breathtaking location from every room, and crafted our operations to minimise the impact our business has on the natural environment.

From water conservation to sourcing local products, here are some of the initiatives we undertake to minimize our ecological footprint:

SOURCING LOCAL PRODUCTS:

Our commitment to supporting local suppliers not only reduces carbon emissions by negating the need to unnecessarily import certain food items, but aslo helps us support our community, uplift the local economy and develop Seychelles’ agricultural sector.
Homemade Pastries & Preserves
Our pastry chefs begin preparation at 5am each morning, to ensure our viennoiserie are served hot and fresh. Our baked goods are known for their quality and even sold to other local businesses. Our kitchen team even makes their own jams and preserves, infused with tropical fruits and spices for an authentic island flavour.
Locally-Sourced, Free-Range Eggs
Our eggs come from island-raised, free-range chickens, and are supplied by local farmers.
Carana Beach Hotel Garden & Island Sourced Fruits
Most of our fruits and vegetables are sourced from local farms or – on a smaller scale – from our own garden by our extraordinary Grounds & Gardens team.
Artisanal Butchers
Our sister hotel, Denis Private Island, includes a vast island farm. Artisanal butchers on Denis Island supply all of our bacon, pork and sausage (chipolatas) products.

WATER CONSERVATION:

As a coastal boutique hotel, we recognise the significance of water as a precious natural resource, and employ various measures to conserve it:

  • Recycle wastewater for garden irrigation,
  • Encouraging guests to refresh linen every three days to conserve water,
  • Only use bio-friendly detergents in the laundry to prevent contaminating water sources

RECYCLING

We are dedicated to reducing waste by recycling the following materials to be repurposed and re-used:

  • Plastic
  • Glass
  • cans
  • Cooking Oil

INDIGENOUS VEGETATION:

We meticulously plant and maintain indigenous vegetation in our gardens, not only to providing guests with an authentic tropical experience, but also to create habitats that support native wildlife and play an important role in the prevention of soil erosion.
